My opinion about Beyonce is the same. She really would like to reach a mountain like Tina, but even with 100000 Grammys it won´t be able, because she´s got one big thing missing and that´s talent. Sorry to all fans of her, but my opinion is,that she only reached her todays position with the help of her father who is music manager what opened chances to her that other great talents will never have. Her "talent" is to promote herself to stay in the medias. I think it was quite a nice gesture from Tina to perform with her two years ago to thak her for her appearance on the Kennedy Center honour but both performances only proofed that Tina is and will be the Queen. Beyonce was like a Kitten in her performance/voice and Tina the "lion" who roared her away with her great energy.
oh goodness someone who agrees with me

Beyonce has 16 like how old is she 27/28 I feel sorry for the likes of Diana, Patti etc how times have changed if this was the early 60's a singer with Beyonce's talent would struggle to get just 1
In the 60's a performer with beyonce's talent well... would be Tina.... I'm not saying she sounds like Tina, but the dancing, and the look... it's it..... so maybe that is why Tina never got a grammy back then, if we use your views.... (*waiting for the "TINA IS NOTHING LIKE BEYONCE" arguments to come.... bracing self*)
No. Tina is a far more talented singer than Beyonce. Remember being able to sing still meant something in the 60's. Ike&Tina weren't Grammy material for other reasons.
Besides Beyonce is an emulator while Tina was in a large part original in the 60's. It's just not a fair comparison. With that i mean it's not fair to Tina.
I see your point, but there really are no stars of today (as in who came out in the 1990-2000s) who cannot be compared to those first generation stars like Ike and Tina etc.... Personally, yes, Tina my preferred singer...
Yeah but deffinitelly not to the point of Beyonce. She's beyond influenced.
Talent is something else. For example Pink is a huge Janis Joplin fan and performs a medley of Janis' songs on her shows but she isn't parading around in bell bottoms and feathers and emulating Janis' performing style.
Even if you just take the singing part. Beyonce's singing talent is really limited. I get the sense that she works hard but she doesn't have a huge talent. She's filling a hole in todays music where most pop singers can't really sing.
In the 60's and 70's singers were helped by good songs. Aretha wouldn't be who she is without the "Atlantic years" despite her talent. It's part of the game. Even Tina admited Proud Mary used to be the only thing that worked for her for a long time. Singers now get one season hits but this still doesn't make them comparable to those who are legends now.

To me Beyonce is more "image" than talent. There aren't too many performers around anymore that are the complete package...Tina has the voice, personality, looks, etc....Beyonce has the "image" that seems to be popular nowadays but when you take all that away what is left?

It's not even that. I think Tina sees beyonce as someone who emulates her early and "vegas" years in a more innocent way. Tina is into something else. Tina really cares to be rock and roll. Don't be fooled by all those glitters and designer stage costumes. Behind all that is a wild rock chick. Even though she didn't get a very rock catalogue she did her best to present her concerts as rock concerts while being Tina Turner. The most obvious part of it all is that she sings as a rock singer not pop or even r&b singer. Beyonce is nowhere near that.

The music business today is not able to be compared to that what it used to be in former times and sometimes i´m really sad about it. What i mean is that today its not the singing or performing and the talent its more the show, clothes and mostly the permissiveness in fact its described with the simple words "sex sells" and that has nothing in common with real music. People like for example Eric Clapton or John Miles do write their songs on their own, so they think about what they want to express with the song and it is something that comes from their heart ( ... tears in heaven) or think of John Lennon or Michael Jackson who wanted to make the world a better place with their songs and said to the people they should make love not war. These were real messages of people who stood completely behind their songs and loved the music. Also when i hear music of Tina i hear that she loves what she does and that´s a thing you have or not. So to come back to Beyonce, Lady Gaga or other wannabe musicians of today (there are some real ones but the sad thing is that you don´t hear of them, because they aren´t interesting for the medias ... so they don´t have any possibility to get Grammys for their music) i´m absolutely not touched when i hear their music because they only produce what their managers propose them to become a hit and the next thing is how shall i interpretate a message "to all the single ladies" sung by a married woman or read of an "pokerface"? I don´t know what this wants to tell me (or my IQ is to low ). Maybe i interpretate to much or i´m someone who admires more than words.

Well i was not going to comment on this but i may as well lol Im a big Beyonce fan, course i love Tina more and i agree that Beyonce will never be Tina because as Oprah said "there is only one" but i do think beyonce has real talent unlike alot of singers today and she is a great performer, no miming like that blonde who shaved her head and attacked a reporter with an umberella WTF that is someone to me who has no talent!
I also like Lady Gaga although she is a little bit too weird for me, she scares me if im honest
This is what happens when you take the "image" from Beyonce. You get an amazing voice unaccompanied by any sound equipment that enhances the voice on live stages. She has been singing since she was six years old. She is inspired by Tina, Streisand, MJ and many of the other greats. Having seen her in concert several times, she sounds even greater in person. I thought the same about Tina. She is not just some packaged pop star. The whole point in Beyonce having an ABC special was to show people that she is not just some sex symbol, but one of the best vocalist ever.
Also, exactly how is she copying Tina. We should even be proud that someone of Beyonce's stature even loves Tina. Most of the young singers this generation always praise Aretha, Madonna, and that shows us how underrated Tina was. I think with Beyonce the media sort of realizes that we have our new day Tina, we kind of messed up with Tina (wasn't given a lot of credit till later in life) and now that we have someone who can sing and dance at the same time, we are not going to mess this up. There would not be much entertainment w/o Beyonce. Why are ratings so low when she doesn't appear on an award show? Everyone at the Grammy's gave her a standing ovation, yes. But I'm still confused, how is she copying Tina? If its the hair, well Beyonce is from Texas and we love long and beautiful hair, we do it big here lol. If its the costumes, hell what woman wouldn't want to be sexy? Beyonce is very talented. all the success she has had, she deserves and there is more to come. As for Gaga, that's her, she like being "weird" and she was teased for it, She is not a wannabe, she can actually sing.

Beyonce gets acknowledged because she sales records, she is "today - current" artist she sales concerts "worldwide" not just USA and Europe,MTV tried to make a statement by giving to t,swift which people went "who?"single ladies is the best sold single, video worldwide. It is simple if you work hard like Tina did and be faithfull, gracefull to your fans you do not need awards but you will have a long lasting carrier cos live performance do have long life and am sure Beyonce will be selling out Tours years to come cos she proved to have a good live show, not britney have a feeling apart from US her last tour most likely would be her last ,especially europe, australia people literally walked out.as it is personal thing love Bey or not she is the most successfull artist now ,just as i do not jump on Maddonna success but girl knows how to sale herself.

I agree with you, and lady gaga i adore her. she takes me back to the days of Grace Jones, grace jones was a head of her time very strange to most but quite entertaining.
I like to see artist to be daring. nevertheless Tina there is no one like her. she had tough times to over come, these singers to day got it so easy, compare to singers back in the day.
These days some one can just get famous from one show or youtubevideo. back in the day it had to be earn.

However, I think Tina and also Beyonce give their very best with the talent they got from God. Let them both go their way, like we have to go our ways. If, if Beyonce gets the help of her father - we would do the same - especially in this hard time of music business.
Love,
Monika

Just like tina get where she is by the help of her manager RD,but the rest is up to the arstist,RD also managed ann margareth, sade, janet jackson to name a few ,none stayed commercial global superstars,it is how you connect with people, just like tina pepsi ads, cars ads, hanes adds, amway ads .....you need the media to sale your product, beyonce wants to follow what tina did with her carrier to use her charisma and whatever gift she got to be successfull ,she is not whitney(young)or or what tina once said she is not maria callas but she used what she have, nice to see both bey and tina concerts filled with all generations old and young not mentioning certain so called "film stars /singers"whose audience is 5yrs old to 14 yrs oldand once they grow up as most have now they got no fans

Tina all the way, you can't beat her. I like a few performers but Tina gets me really excited.

My opinion remains the same. I think Beyonce has mediocre talent and outstanding PR.Seems that her father has turned her into a human ATM. Putting her name on any brand thats willing to throw cash their way. As I've said in the past I do see her "borrowing" from many performers. Overall, I see that she does what's current and the only thing I keep thinking is how is "Single Ladies" & "Crazy in Love" gonna sound and look like in 20 years. I dont think she thinks ahead though she just does what's current. In 10-20 years anyone who ever dared to compare Tina's quality of performance with Beyonce will clearly see the difference.
This is what happens when you take the "image" from Beyonce. You get an amazing voice unaccompanied by any sound equipment that enhances the voice on live stages. It is very clear looking at Beyonce's early touring with Destiny's Child, they always incorporated Proud Mary into their setlist. and yes the hair and costumes she has channel early Tina. Which artists before Tina had that type of hair and leggy presentation on stage? No one before, and no one since, -except Beyonce.
Beyonce has other influences like Janet Jackson and Madonna and Diana Ross, and she incorporates all of the them well. however the strong Tina influence cannot be denied except by those who are totally blind.
